Psychologists tell us that our words only form 10% of what we communicate to others, the other 90% is emotive and contextual. Think of the many ways you can say the word “yes”. One syllable, the variations are endless. One word has a hundred different meanings and a hundred different emotional charges within each context. We read peoples bodies, their moods and their attitudes as a matter of course and we all decipher these meanings and charges unconsciously.
Unfortunately our nonverbal skills are not as valued as our verbal skills and social politeness is about ignoring the emotional signals of others. As a result we don’t know what the emotions are, let alone what they do, but yet they are here, unconsciously interfering with our daily life.
But what if our emotions could be used to inform and enhance our lives?
· Do you feel grounded, connected, balanced and conscious?
· Are you satisfied and content with all parts of your life?
· Do you like what you are doing and are you satisfied with your job?
· Do you find it easy to manage your teams and understand their dynamics?
Or do you sometimes feel overwhelmed? Drained? Misunderstood, confused and absent? And don’t know why?
